Autistically YOU!

“Empowering, Supporting & Connecting Autistic Women in the Community”

A mental health and autistic wellbeing program that is research-informed, strengths-based, underpinned by self-compassion, autistic connectedness, & autistic wellness.

Welcome to the “Autistically YOU!” program, a unique 6-session online journey specifically designed for autistic women.

This program is grounded in research and focuses on using strengths-based strategies to enhance mental health and wellbeing. Nat has studied the literature specifically on autistic women/autism in women, and picked out the importance ‘stuff’ on HOW we can flourish as autistic women.

Created and facilitated by Nat, an autistic ADHD woman with a BA Psychology, a Grad Cert in Autism Studies, and extensive experience in mental health coaching and trauma-informed practices, the program is all about celebrating YOU!

Each week, we’ll explore different topics aimed at fostering self-compassion, autistic wellness, and connectedness. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect each week:

  1. Introduction to SMART goals, setting intentions, and self-care: Learn how to set realistic goals and prioritise self-care.

  2. Boundaries and Self-compassion: Understand the importance of setting boundaries and practicing self-kindness in a neuro-affirming way.

  3. Discovering your Ikigai: Dive into life audits and value assessments to find your true purpose.

  4. Finding your purpose: Use affirmations to reinforce your newfound purpose in life as your authentic self.

  5. Neurodivergent in Nature: Explore the benefits of nature and the positive impact it has on our mental health and wellbeing.

  6. Positive Psychology: Focus on positive psychology techniques to enhance your overall wellbeing, that you can easily incorporate into your daily life.

Please note: these sessions are designed to support and connect autistic women. The sessions are not meant to replace any professional therapy, but rather, to give autistic women an opportunity to discuss topics related to being an autistic woman on the spectrum, whilst learning how to feel empowered as an autistic woman.

Autistically YOU! is a transformative program.

This program is specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of autistic women, drawing on Nat’s personal experiences and extensive research. The core philosophy of Autistically YOU! is to celebrate, embrace and nurture your true self.

This holistic program is designed to support the mental health and wellbeing of autistic women in a 100% neuro-affirming environment. It proves a safe, non-judgmental space for exploring your autistic identity, whether you are newly diagnosed, further along in your autism journey, or simply questioning your neurodivergence. The program emphasizes the importance of self-love and self-honour, encouraging participants to celebrate their uniqueness and thrive as autistic individuals.

Autistically YOU! is ideal for autistic women who are eager to learn about self-care, mental health, and wellbeing from an autistic perspective. It offers valuable tips, techniques and strategies to help you flourish. While these sessions are designed to support and connect autistic women, they are not intended to replace professional therapy. Instead, they provide an empowering space for discussion and connection, fostering a sense of belonging and understanding in a neurotypical world.

Whether you are newly diagnosed, self-diagnosed, or formally diagnosed, you are never alone on your neurodivergent journey.

“I wanted to connect with other autistic women in a small, supported group, and I was also drawn to the program due to the topics / aims of supporting health and wellbeing and embracing authenticity”

  • What made you choose the Autistically YOU! program?

“I can’t even remember how I heard about it. But it had content I was interested in. I like that it was a small group”

  • What will you do differently now that you have participated in the program?

“I realised during the program how much I enjoy and need connection with my neurokin, so one thing I am going to do differently, is seeking out more opportunity for this. I hope to attend some of the Sunday sessions you offer as it would be really nice to connect again with you and hopefully those who were part of the program. Since the program I have also rekindled my connection to nature after the session on nature. The program topic reminded me how important it is (even though I already love being out in nature, since I developed chronic illness, going out in nature was something that I hadn’t prioritised and did less of). So I have been getting out most days (without putting pressure on myself) to spend some time in nature without being on my phone and I hope to be able to go out hiking again one day, that’s my new goal!”

  • What will you do differently now that you have participated in the program?

“I have read two of the books Nat suggested on Boundaries and am currently continuing to work on acceptance of my needs and thinking about boundaries as a form of self care”

  • Overall comments about the program...

“I really enjoyed the program and didn’t want it to end. Even though I didn’t speak or show my face this time, I felt a part of the group, and felt I connected to everyone in the group too. It was a real pleasure to take that time out once per week to do the program. I also enjoyed the topics and learnt a lot about myself during the program too!”

  • Overall comments about the program...

“I LOVED being sent a hard copy of the workbook. Nats warmth and acceptance created a safe and welcoming environment It was a good mix of content - I liked the format- mix of Nat teaching, group discussions and individual activities Thanks Nat, well done, was great!”

The importance of self-care (health and wellbeing)

In todays session we discuss self-care and the importance of finding the time to de-stress, relax, and ground yourself… however, the first step in your self-care routine is knowing yourself! Self-care for autistic women is an important part in helping to prevent overflow, that point of exhaustion and shutdown.
